Cathy Martin, aka Flashparade, is one of my favorite illustrators. The girls she draws are just so cute, easy, and fun. Below is her stockings series, and look how cheeky these girls are in their stockings!
These are awesome! It must be new artist week for me or something because this is the second day in a row that someone's posted work by an artist I didn't know, but immediately loved.
These works are fine in themselves, I guess, but I think you'll find looking at the rest of her work that these four specifically are a little out of whack with here usual work and also a little too heavily inspired by Julie Wests work.
You have a great Blog/Tumblr though. Keep posting.
I completely agree; I actually think one of the reasons I was drawn to this series in particular was the resemblance to Julie West, who I greatly admire. Thanks for commenting!
Julie West is a hard working individual with heaps of talent. I think these have more than a resemblance to her work and therefore should not be sold as original. We all imitate our heroes on our journey to learn our craft but these emulations should stay as sketch book discoveries not finished products. Be true to yourself and use your own ideas.
