A Quick Irene Post

I hope all you East Coast bloggers made it through Irene safely!!

This is our street, I still can't believe we are lucky enough to still have power when two trees fell down 3 houses down. Luckily everyone was ok!

I'm lucky enough to live on a hill next to a hospital, so we didn't get flooded or lose power, but my office is right on the water, and that got flooded :/ I think the worst damage was to my car, which is covered in leaves. Did it rain glue or something? They're proving extremely difficult to remove.

My roommate and I were prepared for the worst though, stocked with water, granola bars, movies, TV shows...and sangria. Yep, we made it through Hurricane Irene stocked with fruity sangria and wine spritzers :) And snacks. We ate a lot of food, including pancakes, fresh hummus, and turkey chili.

What did you all do during the Hurricane? Did you lose power, or get flooded?

  1. All the people I've seen post about Hurricane Irene said they ate a lot of food...I did exactly the same! hahaha, funny how that goes.

  2. It kind of sounds like the hurricane did you well, haha! Except for the leaves. And maybe you're upset about your office flooding and it adds extra work, but it seems like a blessing in disguise for a Monday morning, you know? Also, now I want hummus and sangria!

  4. I'm glad it wasn't too awful in your area! Strangely, all it really did here was rain a lot for the morning. I worked for the day and the hotel was fine, but I guess the power went out for a few seconds at home. The same thing happened at my parents' house, too. But every where else has had downed trees and craters in the roads and general craziness.

  10. My neighborhood was pretty much spared, which I am surprised about since we are so close to the water! I guess when the storm blew by we just happened to be in a pocket of lighter storm conditions. But I feel so bad for those who were hard hit- it is so sad. I hope they can recover quickly!

  11. Oh gosh, wow...that must be pretty scary to see a tree down like that so close to your house. Luckily we dodged it on our way down south to vacation. Glad you are safe and didn't get too much damage. Sangrias make everything better for sure:)
