THE SHORT V. LONG HAIR DEBATE

For the past 6 months or so I've had the overwhelming urge to cut my hair into a cute bob. So why haven't I done it? There's that part of me that says, "Kyla, you've never had your hair really long. Grow it."

I usually keep my hair around 1"-5" past my shoulders, and it has been like that for the longest time. I always have some sort of bangs (and would keep them regardless of what I do). A few years ago I cut my hair a little shorter than my shoulders, and I vowed I wouldn't go shorter than that. BUT. I feel like I need to bob my hair, just to say I've tried it. Then I also say I should grow it really long, because it's never been that length before, either. Oh, decisions. *sign

This post is basically me going around in circles...again...and sharing some of the cuts in my "Hair Inspirations" folder.

I don't know you guys. I turn 23 in May, and I'm going to do a "23 before 24 list"...already added is bob my hair. It's just a matter of when now!

So has anyone else been in the same struggle as me? Which hairstyle do you prefer?

  1. I currently have long. But I have a soft spot in my heart for short. Plus it just looks easier to maintain.

  2. I've had my hair all kinds of lengths and colors.....I remember I used to be very afraid of doing ANYTHING with my hair, until one of my mom's friends told me, "your hair is your best accessory....it will always grow back, and you can always color it".

So, go for it!! You have nothing to lose :)

  3. I'm so indecisive with my hair as well. But I think you should go for it. It's just hair after all. x

  4. I used to have mid-length hair and then i cut it completely short - a frankie sanford type of short. I loved it but after about a year I got bored with it and now I'm growing it again. Short hair is so easy to manage but I'm the type of person that likes to change up my hair when I go out and with short hair you're pretty limited. but I don't regret cutting it, I loved my short hair and I might cut it again sometime in the future.

  5. I am constantly in that battle. I've always kept my hair short but I decided it was time to try something new and grow it out. Some days however, I can't help but want to chop it all off. I'm super excited to see you try a bob though. I'm positive you're going to rock it! :D

  6. I've been growing my hair for ages, but now I kinda want it short. It'll grow back if you don't really like it. But I am a huge fan of short hair, I don't think it would really suit me though.

  8. I've always done bobs and it's high maintenance for curly hair since you get kinks and poof otherwise it looks amazing! You should get it over with :D It's a sleek hairstyle and you could get some cheap extensions if you need a change up!

  9. i'm currently sporting the bob. BUT, whenever i have short hair, i pine for it to be long, and vice versa. I can never be satisfied. Right now, I'm dreaming about braiding my hair, but they take FOR-EH-VAH to grow out. so good luck! I hope you're not like me!

  10. Oh man, that is a tough choice. I think you would look good with either one! You could grow it out and then cut it to the bob that way you can have it both ways :)

  11. I love short and long...and I do both ALOT. BUT, I guess I would vote long....because you can do a ton of different things with it! :)

  12. I don't know!!! I know, I'm SUCH a huge help. ;) But seriously, I've had long, I've had short. When I have long, I want short and when I have short, I want long... It's crazy. ;) But I love both. I am also dying my hair back to black soon!

I really do think you'd look beautiful either way!

  14. I am in the exact same boat right now! I used to have shorter hair, and I decided that I wanted to grow it out. Now that it's gotten quite long, I've been having the itch to cut it off into a short bob! (But I'm also a bit too scared to, for fear of immediately regretting it!)

I am a bit more drawn to the bobs you shared, though... :]

  16. I am constantly having this debate with myself as well! In college I grew my hair out super long, and then I let my hairstylist friend cut it when she was in school... now I'm in the process of growing it back out. However, both ways are super cute! It's fun to change it up a bit :)

  18. I'm the same!! I love my hair long, especially in summer because I love it when it gets all wavy, and I've recently had pink ends, so you have the freedom to do that. But I'd love to cut it short into a sharp bob too, just to see how it looked for a while. But I worry I would regret it if I'd didn't like it, and it would take years to get back to the length it is now! I just don't know haha =/
Anyway, I just discovered your blog and I love it, following you now!!
